He is a Criminal Lawyer with more than thirty years’ experience as an advocate – either as a Crown Prosecutor or in private practice. Between 2012 and 2025 James was the Chief Crown Prosecutor with the (SA) Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
He has extensive experience as trial counsel. In his role as Chief Crown Prosecutor, he routinely prosecuted complex matters in the Supreme Court before judge and jury. He is also an experienced appellate advocate, regularly appearing in the Court of Appeal, and has appeared in appeals before the High Court of Australia.
