Martin conducts a broad practice in civil and commercial litigation, appearing in the Federal Court and at all levels of South Australian Courts and Tribunals in trials and on appeals.
He has particular experience in landlord and tenant matters, building disputes and actions involving claims of misleading and deceptive conduct.
Martin has a developing practice as a mediator, borne of experience that a reasonable compromise of disputes should always be explored and is often preferable to the uncertainties, delays and increasing costs of litigation.
Before coming to the Bar Martin was an associate to the late Justice Michael White in the Supreme Court of South Australia, worked as a solicitor in insurance and personal injury compensation fields, and for a time was a merchant banker. He lectured for many years for the Securities Institute of Australia in contract and corporate law. He completed his law degree at Adelaide Law school and a Bachelor of Arts from Adelaide University majoring in history and Spanish.
